Jody Carper, Announcer
Texan Jody Carper is a former rodeo contestant in tie-down roping, team roping and steer wrestling, and
joined the PRCA in 1997 as a tie-down roper. He began announcing in 1991, earned his announcer’s card
in 2005 and hit the big time last year, announcing major rodeos including St. Paul (Ore.), as well as
the 2008 Benny Binion’s Bucking Horse and Bull Sale and the 2008 National Finals Steer Roping.
Carper also works as a college basketball official; he has worked in 11 conferences and one professional
league. In 2005, he worked the McDonald’s High School All-American game, televised on ESPN. Carper has
even combined his vocations by getting behind the microphone to call basketball and football games.
